PFC Careers are seeking a Technical Draughtsman to work with a highly respected specialist contractor in Glasgow. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit, capable of producing high-quality construction issue drawings and specifications, and confident in navigating all phases of the construction lifecycle—from tender through to project completion. This role demands a strong understanding of structural steelwork, construction detailing, BIM protocols, and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows, particularly within a Main Contractor setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and coordinated construction issue drawings, specifications and technical details using AutoCAD and Revit
- Review and comment on structural steelwork designs, ensuring alignment with architectural intent and buildability
- Collaborate with design, engineering and site teams to ensure drawings reflect real-world constraints and sequencing
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with Main Contractor BIM protocols and CDE workflows
- Support tender submissions with technical input and drawing packages
- Track and manage drawing revisions, RFIs and redline markups throughout the project lifecycle
- Attend coordination meetings and contribute to clash detection and resolution processes
- Ensure all documentation is aligned with project timelines, specifications and regulatory requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Proven ability to produce construction-ready drawings and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of structural steelwork and its integration within architectural and MEP systems
- Familiarity with Main Contractor BIM protocols and Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms (e.g., BIM 360, Aconex, Viewpoint)
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Thorough knowledge of UK construction standards, detailing conventions, and building regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple drawing packages under tight deadlines
