As Functional Assessors at
PFAS
we work on behalf of the
DWP
assessing claimants who have applied for
PIP (Personal Independence Payments)
benefit. We act as information gatherers, and we assess how each individual\’s disability/condition/illness impacts their functional ability on daily activities by completing thorough assessments in a respectful, non-bias and reassuring manner. We use our clinical curiosity, medical knowledge, learnt resources and clinical guidance to present findings to the DWP. After we have gained all the information, we form a report which gets sent to the DWP case managers who make the decision on the claimant\’s eligibility. The DWP will make their decision by looking at the claim and its supporting evidence. Our assessment report is only one part of this supporting evidence.

Using management information to identify trends impacting quality and performance. To work closely with other members of the team to drive a quality culture while ensuring that customer care is delivered to the highest standard. Your success will positively impact our

Position:

As a
PIP Quality Assurance Lead for IPRS PFAS,
you will be responsible for driving our quality, productivity and enhancing our customers\’ experience including:

  • To maintain professional standards and best practice in line with regulatory expectations.
  • Keep registration, revalidation, and CPD/CME up to date with NMC, GMC, and HCPC requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing approval for PIP benefits and complete assessments as needed.
  • Monitor PIP quality trends using management information at team and individual levels.
  • Align team and individual quality indicators with national benchmarks and drive improvements.
  • Identify Health Professionals (HPs) needing support and provide tailored pathways for development and encourage regular sharing of best practices within the team (e.g., weekly discussions).
  • Support CPD and CME completion at the team level.
  • Maintain and enhance clinical quality to meet PIP quality targets (TPLs) and also support initiatives to improve team productivity and efficiency.
  • Lead quality calls to communicate performance expectations and progress to HPs and managers.
  • Provide timely feedback to HPs, escalating issues where deadlines cannot be met.
  • Review and address complaints at both individual and team levels to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support complaint responses in line with Prime Contract Holder guidance.
  • Work closely with senior leadership (HCGQ, HL, and Prime Contract Holder) to provide updates, raise concerns, and improve clinical delivery across PFAS.
  • Maintain clinical governance and professional standards in line with DWP, GMC, NMC, and HCPC requirements.
  • Provide clinical leadership by supporting HP interviews and ensuring timely communication of clinical and quality messages.

Other duties:

  • Provide strong senior clinical leadership through visibility (on-site or virtual) and by fostering collaborative relationships with operational colleagues.
  • Ensure clinical and quality objectives are communicated, reviewed, and key issues or future needs are escalated to relevant stakeholders

Requirements:

To be seriously considered for this role, you must have:
Qualifications:
Physios/OTs
Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (E)

Paramedics
Paramedic registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (E)

Nurses:
Registered Nurse (E) Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Experience:

  • Must have current approval in PIP benefit with at least 2 years of postgraduate clinical experience, including PIP or WCA assessments (E)
  • Previous experience in using computer software including Microsoft Office (E)
  • Previous experience of using online/computerised reporting templates/databases and interpreting statistics for the purpose of managing & reporting (D)
  • Experience of quality assurance, clinical report checking and/or clinical audit (E) An understanding of PFAS operational procedures (D)

Skills:

  • Proven track record of achieving targets, meeting standards, and maintaining professionalism under pressure while upholding PFAS values.
  • Strong team player with experience leading diverse teams, mentoring colleagues, and role-modelling positive behaviours.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to negotiate, influence, and build strong relationships with medical, administrative, internal, and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible and resilient in fast-changing environments, with experience in change management and the ability to respond effectively to unexpected challenges.
  • Skilled in time management, databases, Microsoft Office, and committed to continuous professional development to deliver the best outcomes for claimants and clients.
