About the role
As a Functional Assessor, you’ll conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence-based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS).
Role details:
- Location: Colchester – must be within 90‑minute radius.
- Salary: £40,000.00
- Type: Permanent (Hybrid role)
- Working hours: 40 hours a week (Mon – Fri 8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
Responsibilities
- Interview claimants to understand their challenges.
- Carry out detailed assessments via telephone, video, or face‑to‑face appointments.
- Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
- Interpret clinical information and evidence.
- Maintain professional standards and adherence to code of conduct.
- Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional.
- Broad clinical knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software.
Essential Qualifications – Nurses
- Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD only)
- Member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
Essential Qualifications – Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists
- Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist or Qualified Occupational Therapist
- Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or College of OT’s (COT)
Essential Qualifications – Paramedics
- BSc or Qualified Paramedic
- Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
