As a Functional Assessor, you’ll conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence‑based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS).

Position Salary: £40,000
Type: Permanent (Hybrid role)
Full time: 40 hours (Mon – Fri 8:30am – 5pm)
Location: Brighton (must be located within a 90‑minute radius of the site)

Responsibilities:

  • Play a crucial role in interviewing claimants to understand the challenges they face.
  • Carry out detailed assessments through telephone, video, or face‑to‑face appointments to understand how a claimant’s disability, condition, or illness affects their ability to carry out everyday activities.
  • Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
  • Interpret clinical information and evidence.
  • Maintain professional standards in written communication and adherence to code of conduct.
  • Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets.

Qualifications and Experience:

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional (Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Paramedic).
  • An ability to demonstrate broad clinical knowledge.
  • Previous experience using computer software including Microsoft Office.

Essentials Qualifications:

  • Nurses: Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD only), Member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
  • Physios/OTs: Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist or Qualified Occupational Therapist, Member of the UK Health
