As a Functional Assessor, you’ll conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence-based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS). Please note: We are currently hiring for our 30th March 2026 cohort, as all positions for the January intake have now been filled.
Salary: £40,000
Type: Permanent (Hybrid role)
Full time: 40 hours (Mon – Fri from 8:30 – 5pm)
Locations: Redhill, Eastbourne, Brighton, Norwich, Croydon, Colchester, Ipswich, Great Yarmouth, and Bury St. Edmunds. You MUST be located within a 90‑minute radius of either site to be considered for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
- Interpret clinical information and evidence.
- Maintain professional standards in written communication and adherence to code of conduct.
- Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional (Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Paramedic).
- An ability to demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge.
- Previous experience in using computer software including Microsoft Office.

- Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD only)
- Member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
Physios/OTs
- Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist or Qualified Occupational Therapist
- Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or College of OT’s (COT)
Paramedics
- BSc or Qualified Paramedic
- Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
