Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, sweep/mop floors, clean and maintain kitchen equipment, sanitize utensils and maintain all areas of the restaurant.
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly conditions.
  • Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
  • Execute proper sanitation practices and safety procedures.
  • Place clean dishes, utensils or cooking equipment in storage areas.
  • Empty and clean all trash receptacles.
  • Operate kitchen equipment including the coffee machine, ice tea machine, lemon slicer and the POS system.
  • Provide assistance to line cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times, including basic prep.
  • Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies.
  • Perform opening, closing and side work.
  • Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
  • Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to appropriate party.
  • Operate an industrial dishwasher.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess a current Food Handler’s Card (if applicable).
  • Must be familiar with the setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to operate an industrial dishwasher.
  • Ability to learn the restaurant menu and guide guests on menu items.
  • Ability to learn restaurant seating layout and how tables are divided into server areas.
  • Understanding of English language.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to employees, management, and guests.
  • Knowledge of all chemicals used in the building and ability to learn to use them properly.
  • Ability to learn and follow uniform standards.
  • Ability to work around various levels of temperature, including warm to very warm temperatures in the kitchen and outside during food transfer.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team-work environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and etiquette.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand and walk for periods of four to ten hours per shift.
  • Able to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeated during a shift.
  • Able to hear with 100% accuracy with correction.
  • Able to see at 20/20 vision with correction.
