Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, sweep/mop floors, clean and maintain kitchen equipment, sanitize utensils and maintain all areas of the restaurant.
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly conditions.
- Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
- Execute proper sanitation practices and safety procedures.
- Place clean dishes, utensils or cooking equipment in storage areas.
- Empty and clean all trash receptacles.
- Operate kitchen equipment including the coffee machine, ice tea machine, lemon slicer and the POS system.
- Provide assistance to line cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times, including basic prep.
- Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies.
- Perform opening, closing and side work.
- Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
- Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to appropriate party.
- Operate an industrial dishwasher.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a current Food Handler’s Card (if applicable).
- Must be familiar with the setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
- Ability to operate an industrial dishwasher.
- Ability to learn the restaurant menu and guide guests on menu items.
- Ability to learn restaurant seating layout and how tables are divided into server areas.
- Understanding of English language.
- Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to employees, management, and guests.
- Knowledge of all chemicals used in the building and ability to learn to use them properly.
- Ability to learn and follow uniform standards.
- Ability to work around various levels of temperature, including warm to very warm temperatures in the kitchen and outside during food transfer.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast‑paced, team‑work environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and etiquette.
- Physical Requirements: able to stand and walk for periods of four to ten hours per shift; able to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeated during a shift; able to hear with 100% accuracy with correction; able to see at 20/20 vision with correction.
