Pewsey Vale School is looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to join its friendly team and provide support to pupils, effective from June 2026. Experience as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) is advantageous as the role will involve working with pupils with SEND and emotional literacy needs.
Required: September 2026. Working Hours: Part Time (22 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 38 weeks per year, no Teacher Training days). As part of this role, there will be an additional 10 hours dedicated to driving the minibus between 8:00am and 10:00am to collect students and support the attendance team.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work across all age ranges within our school, supporting students of all abilities, including those requiring social and emotional support and SEN support, and will make a real difference to their school lives. You will be supported by our dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants and the wider SEND team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for young people;
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
- Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
- Is self‑motivated, dedicated and consistent;
- Enjoys working with young people and can develop good working relationships with them;
- Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
- Can be a strong team player as well as use their own initiative;
- Has a positive and flexible attitude;
- Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social and emotional wellbeing;
- Has experience of supporting children’s learning;
- Has experience as an ELSA (advantageous);
- Has a current First Aid qualification or is prepared to undertake training;
- Holds a full, clean driving licence and has experience in or is prepared to drive a minibus.
