Pewsey Vale School is looking for a highly skilled Teacher of History to join its vibrant team on a full-time basis, starting September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT, who is passionate about empowering all pupils to succeed.

Contract: Fixed-term until 31st August 2027

Pewsey Vale is a small but thriving co-educational school, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 16 years. Located in the village of Pewsey, our school community works together to ensure that all students are supported to reach their full potential in both their academic and personal development. As a school, we provide a supportive and challenging learning environment where every student is recognised as an individual and empowered to succeed. In December 2024 we joined Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience. The successful candidate will be able to teach across the full age and ability range (Key Stage 3–Key Stage 4), and will be a team player happy to collaborate and share ideas with other teachers within the History Department. QTS status is essential for the role.

  • Can plan and deliver lessons and sequences of lessons to the highest standard that ensure real learning takes place and students make superior progress;
  • Is able to raise attainment and challenge students to achieve their best;
  • Has a commitment to extra‑curricular activities;
  • Is aware of current initiatives in history;
  • Is an effective team member who can contribute positively to the work in the History Department and our school;
  • Has a positive, cheerful outlook with a good sense of humour;
  • Is able to forge good relationships with students and staff;
  • Is able to work hard and remain calm under pressure;
  • Has a desire to work within the Multi‑Academy Trust (MAT) structure.
