ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior or Principal Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer at Pettit Singleton Associates in Preston. The role involves managing client projects from concept to completion, being the technical Mechanical Engineer on the project, advising the client, producing detailed technical designs, creating detailed reports and other designer and office duties.
As a senior member of the team, you will work with our long-term high-profile clients across all sectors from healthcare, education, defence, commercial, industrial and leisure. There is opportunity for the right candidate to progress into or from a Principal Engineer and to an Associate Director.
REQUIREMENTS
- Mechanical Engineering design and Maintenance skills
- Ability to leverage first principles, engineering knowledge, and analytical judgment while recognising methodological limitations.
- A good understanding of the Electrical side of Building Services
- Knowledge of project requirements and balancing quality, time and cost issues accordingly
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to put together proposals and bids
- Experience in managing teams
DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience within the Healthcare and Education sectors
- Experience working within a consultancy environment
- Chartered or a member of a professional body such as CIBSE, IMechE or IET
