Are you an experienced Civils Contracts Manager based in the Perthshire area with the ability to travel to sites throughout the North of Scotland?

The Role: Our client, a leading national housebuilder, is seeking an experienced Civils Contracts Manager to oversee and manage civil engineering works across a portfolio of residential developments throughout the North of Scotland. This is a senior regional role, responsible for ensuring that all civils packages are delivered safely, on programme, to budget, and to the highest quality standards, working closely with internal construction teams and external subcontract partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the management and delivery of all civil engineering works across multiple residential sites within the region.
  • Procure, appoint, and manage civil engineering subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual, commercial, and quality requirements.
  • Oversee programme delivery, monitoring progress against key milestones and resolving technical or logistical issues as they arise.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in line with H&S legislation, company policies, and best practice standards.
  • Work closely with Construction Managers, Site Managers, Commercial teams, and Technical departments to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Manage cost control, variations, and value engineering opportunities in conjunction with the commercial team.
  • Review and approve RAMS, method statements, and design information prior to commencement of works.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits to ensure quality, compliance, and performance standards are met.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, consultants, utilities providers, and local authorities.
  • Contribute to regional planning, forecasting, and reporting to senior management.
  • Support the development of junior team members and promote a collaborative, high-performance culture.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a Civils Contracts Manager or Senior Civils Management role within residential housebuilding or large-scale civil engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage, earthworks, and infrastructure works associated with residential developments.
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple sites and subcontract packages concurrently.
  • Sound commercial awareness with experience working alongside commercial teams on budgets, valuations, and variations.
  • Strong understanding of H&S regulations and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable travelling across the North of Scotland region as required.
  • Relevant civil engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) preferred but not essential with proven experience.
  • SMSTS and CSCS (or equivalent) desirable.
