Reporting to the Commercial Manager, duties of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor role will include:
- Proactive support role assisting with the management of 2/3 live sites at one time.
- Contributing to the management of a range of legal and contractual issues to ensure the construction project remains profitable while complying with Group guidelines.
- Supporting various studies in a timely manner to estimate materials, time and labour costs.
- Ensuring costs are established and controlled with projects completed on time and within budget.
- Supporting the appointment and management of subcontractors, including sourcing and negotiation of contracts, to ensure resources are available to achieve build and quality targets.
- Managing subcontractor performance against Group / Operating Company guidelines.
- Ensuring costs are controlled and projects complete on time, to the desired quality standards and within budget.
- Working cohesively with other departments to ensure achievement of targets.
- Producing accurate and timely valuation reports and management information to enable the commercial management team to make informed business decisions.
What experience, qualifications and skills are we looking for?
- Experience within the house building / main contracting / groundworks industries is desirable.
- A relevant construction qualification.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Package, including Excel and Word.
