Are you an Engineer / Civil Engineer with experience in the housebuilding industry looking for a new opportunity in the Central Belt?

The Opportunity:

Pettigrew Recruitment Group is working with a respected privately owned Scottish housebuilder to recruit an Engineer / Senior Engineer for their technical team in Stirling.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineer or Senior Engineer to join a well-established business and play an important role in the technical delivery of residential developments across Scotland.

The company is open minded regarding the level of appointment and will consider candidates from a range of backgrounds. This could suit an established Senior Engineer, an Engineer ready to take the next step in their career, or someone working within a civil engineering consultancy who is keen to move into the housebuilding sector.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across technical, land, commercial, construction and sales, helping to ensure developments are technically robust, commercially viable and delivered efficiently.

The Role:

As Engineer / Senior Engineer, you will support the technical delivery of residential developments from the early design and planning stages through to construction and completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing civil engineering and infrastructure requirements across residential developments.
  • Reviewing and coordinating roads, drainage, utilities and external works designs.
  • Working with external engineering consultants and specialist designers.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, reports and specifications.
  • Identifying engineering risks and helping to develop practical solutions.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of technical approvals.
  • Liaising with local authorities, utility providers, statutory bodies and external consultants.
  • Coordinating technical information with construction and commercial teams.
  • Monitoring consultant performance, programme requirements and design deliverables.
  • Supporting tendering and procurement activity where required.
  • Attending design, project and site meetings.
  • Responding to technical queries during the construction phase.
  • Ensuring designs are practical, compliant and commercially appropriate.
  • Supporting junior members of the technical team where applicable.
  • Maintaining accurate technical records and project information.

About You:

You will ideally have experience in residential development, civil engineering, infrastructure design or a related technical environment.

Candidates may come from a housebuilder, contractor, civil engineering consultancy or infrastructure background.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of roads, drainage, utilities and residential development infrastructure.
  • An understanding of technical approvals and statutory processes.
  • The ability to review and coordinate technical drawings and information.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A practical and commercially aware approach to engineering.
  • The ability to manage several workstreams and competing priorities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • The confidence to work collaboratively across different departments.

Experience within housebuilding would be advantageous but is not essential, provided you have relevant civil engineering knowledge and a genuine interest in moving into residential development.

Applicants at Engineer level who are ready to progress into a more senior role are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial.

Professional membership or progress towards chartership would be welcomed but is not essential.

Package:

The successful candidate will receive:

  • Performance-related bonus.
  • Company pension.
  • Additional company benefits.
  • Career-development and progression opportunities.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join an established housebuilder in a broad and influential technical role.

The business is prepared to consider candidates at different stages of their careers, making the opportunity suitable both for experienced Senior Engineers and ambitious Engineers looking to take the next step.

You will gain exposure to the full development lifecycle, work closely with senior decision makers and have the opportunity to make a visible contribution to the delivery of residential developments across Scotland.

If you're ready to take the next step in your Engineering career with a business that values development, quality and teamwork, we'd love to hear from you.
