Are you an experienced Engineering Manager who enjoys getting under the skin of complex residential developments and leading a team to deliver buildable, commercially sound solutions? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected housebuilder at a key stage of growth, taking ownership of the engineering function across a varied pipeline of residential developments.

As Engineering Manager, you will provide leadership across internal engineering resources and external consultants, ensuring technical information is accurate, coordinated and issued on time to support the successful delivery of residential developments. You will play a key role in shaping the engineering strategy for each site, managing risk, resolving technical challenges and supporting the wider technical, commercial and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support and develop a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentoring and day‑to‑day management.
  • Manage engineering input from site identification, planning approval and technical design through to site start.
  • Review site constraints and identify practical, commercially viable engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate external consultants, utility providers and internal technical teams.
  • Ensure technical and production information is reviewed, accurate and issued in line with agreed programmes.
  • Maintain strong standards across design, quality, technical compliance and buildability.
  • Work closely with land, planning, commercial and construction teams to support site delivery.
  • Monitor workloads across the team, ensuring priorities are managed effectively and deadlines are achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement across engineering processes and team performance.

What We’re Looking For

We are keen to speak with experienced engineering professionals who have a strong understanding of residential development, infrastructure, roads, drainage, groundworks or civils design. You may already be operating as an Engineering Manager, or you could be an experienced Senior Engineer ready to step into a broader leadership role. The successful candidate will bring:

  • Proven experience within housebuilding, residential development, civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Strong technical knowledge across roads, drainage, levels, services and groundworks.
  • The ability to manage consultants and challenge technical information where required.
  • A practical, solutions‑focused approach to engineering challenges.
  • Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.
  • Confidence working with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • A full UK driving licence.
