We are working with a respected construction business that is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join their growing team. This role is essential to the company’s continued success and involves both traditional tender estimating and early-stage budget pricing.

The Role:

This hands-on estimating role requires building costs from first principles and using industry experience to develop accurate and commercially viable estimates. The core responsibility is to prepare budget estimates and detailed project costings for a variety of construction projects, ensuring they are realistic and competitive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare budget estimates and detailed project costings for a range of construction projects.
  • Develop costs from outline briefs, concept layouts, or limited design information.
  • Build estimates from first principles including labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation where applicable.
  • Produce cost plans for industrial, commercial, and general construction projects.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and internal teams during the pre-construction process.
  • Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options during pricing stages.
  • Support directors and operational teams with commercial input during project development.
  • Assist with procurement planning and project handover.
  • Maintain and develop pricing databases and estimating systems.

What We’re Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in an Estimator or Assistant Estimator role within construction.
  • Strong practical understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
  • Ability to prepare estimates from limited or early-stage information.
  • Experience building costs from first principles.
  • Good commercial awareness and cost management skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical information where available.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
