At Pettigrew Recruitment, we are working with a highly regarded housebuilder who is continuing to invest in their technical team. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Engineer to play a hands-on role across the full lifecycle of residential developments, from early-stage land appraisal right through to delivery on site.
The Role:
You will be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your input is valued, your voice is heard, and your work directly influences the success of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting projects from concept through to completion, ensuring technical excellence at every stage.
- Producing Engineering Reports to support land acquisition and early-stage decision making.
- Working closely with consultants to drive efficient, practical and cost-effective design solutions.
- Managing risk and opportunity across projects, keeping appraisals and registers up to date.
- Attending and contributing to technical and site meetings, ensuring actions are delivered.
- Navigating statutory approvals and ensuring programmes stay on track.
- Monitoring planning conditions and legal agreements to ensure full compliance.
- Reviewing civils and structural designs, challenging where needed to achieve the best outcomes.
- Supporting wider business functions with engineering and utilities expertise when required.
What we are looking for:
- Around 4-5 years experience within a housebuilder or engineering consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering design within residential development.
- Experience working with local authorities, SEPA and Scottish Water would be advantageous.
- Confident communicator, able to translate technical detail clearly.
- Proactive, organised and solutions-focused in your approach.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
- BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous experience working directly for a housebuilder.
Why this role?
This is more than just another engineering role. It’s a chance to:
- Have real influence across projects, not just a narrow scope.
- Work within a genuinely collaborative and supportive team.
- Develop your technical expertise across the full development lifecycle.
- Be part of a business delivering high-quality, well-considered residential schemes.
