The Role:

As Bid and Proposals Manager, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end bid process, from opportunity identification through to submission and continuous improvement. You will also lead and develop a dedicated proposals team, ensuring the highest standards of quality, consistency, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bid Writing and Proposal Quality
  • Leading the writing, editing, and production of high-quality tender submissions and proposals.

    • Maintaining bid programmes and pipeline trackers, providing updates to senior leadership.
    • Conducting post-submission reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing proposals team.
    • Providing coaching, mentoring, and regular feedback to support professional growth.
    • Identifying skills gaps and implementing development and training plans.
    • Creating a collaborative and positive team environment focused on quality and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development
    • Working closely with operational, commercial, and senior teams to gather bid information.
    • Building strong internal relationships to ensure the proposals function is well supported.
    • Supporting pre-qualification submissions and expressions of interest.
    • Contributing to wider business development strategy and opportunity identification.

    What We're Looking For:

    Essential

    • Proven experience in a bid writing or proposals management role.
    • Strong background within construction, property services, or a related sector.
    • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce compelling submissions.
    • Experience developing win themes and client-focused bid strategies.
    • Previous experience leading and developing a team.
    • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
    • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and providing constructive challenge.

    Desirable

    • APMP qualification or equivalent.
    • Experience working with public sector frameworks and tendering processes.
    • Familiarity with PQQs and formal procurement routes such as Find a Tender.
    • Experience improving bid systems, processes, or content libraries.
