Senior Backend Engineer (Rust)

As AI agents become more capable at writing code, developers are spending more of their time planning and reviewing what those agents produce. Vibe Kanban helps them do exactly that, seamlessly integrating with leading coding agents like Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex.

What you’ll do

• Own significant parts of the backend, from architecture to polish
• Shape design and product decisions alongside the founders
• Push performance, reliability, and code quality
• Experiment to find out how AI coding tools integrate best with backend workflows
• Build features that span local → cloud execution

Who we’re looking for

Ideally you’re full-stack, with particular experience on the backend.

You should have enough experience to hold opinions about architecture and design when building complex systems. Ours is complex because, for example:

• Agent chat threads, code, and other data must sync in real time
• Users live inside Vibe Kanban, it’s a power tool that must feel effortless
• It’s both information and function dense

You should be completely confident in your backend ability. This is the chance to exercise your talent and perform your life’s work.

Particular areas of expertise we’re prioritising:

• Expert proficiency in Rust
• Experience writing highly concurrent systems
• Knowledge or and/or experience writing efficient data storage structures
• (Bonus) Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Azure
