Experienced Veterinary Surgeon - Develop Your Clinical Interests at Broadstairs

Broadstairs Vets for Pets is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team and help shape the next stage of our practice.

Broadstairs Vets for Pets is an established, RCVS-accredited small animal practice with over 20 years of serving the local community. We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with around five years' experience or more, who is confident working independently and is ready for the next stage of their career.

Do you have a particular area of clinical interest that you'd like to develop further?

Perhaps you've already developed expertise or hold a certificate in a particular area, or perhaps there's an area you've always wanted to pursue but haven't yet had the opportunity to develop. Whether that's soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, imaging, feline medicine, dentistry, dermatology or something completely different, we'd love to hear about it.

We want to understand what you're passionate about clinically and what you'd like your next step to look like, and explore how we can support you in taking that further within Broadstairs.

You will have the autonomy to manage your own cases while being part of a collaborative team who enjoy sharing knowledge, discussing cases and supporting one another. We are looking for someone who is confident in their own clinical decision-making and can work independently, whilst also contributing their experience and interests to the wider team.

What we can offer

  • Separate cat and dog wards
  • Three consulting rooms
  • Two theatres
  • Dedicated prep and diagnostic areas
  • Fully stocked pharmacy
  • Ultrasound
  • Video endoscopy
  • Digital radiography
  • Dental radiography
  • VetScan Imagyst Digital Cytology
  • Full IDEXX in-house laboratory

We also perform a wide range of orthopaedic procedures in‑house, providing opportunities to gain exposure to more advanced surgical cases.

We are keen to continue developing our clinical services and would welcome someone who wants to bring their own interests and experience into the practice. Whether you want to develop your skills in soft tissue surgery, build an internal medicine caseload, develop your interest in feline medicine, expand your experience in endoscopy or dentistry, or pursue another clinical area you’re passionate about, we’d like to hear from you.

Hours

This role can be offered between 30 and 40 hours per week, with working patterns discussed and agreed around the needs of the successful candidate. Weekend commitments are negotiable.

Our opening hours are:

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00am - 7:00pm
  • Saturday: 9:00am - 6:00pm
  • Sunday: 10:00am - 4:00pm

There are no out-of-hours commitments, and we offer flexibility in working patterns because we understand the importance of achieving a healthy work‑life balance.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £80,000 (depending on experience)
  • Optional company car
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing after two years' service
  • Generous CPD allowance with encouragement and support for further education and certificate development
  • No out-of-hours commitments
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS and VDS)
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards, including up to 20% off at Pets at Home

Join us at an exciting stage in our journey. We’re building the next chapter of Broadstairs and are looking for an experienced clinician who wants to be part of that journey.

Whether you’re already experienced in an area you’d like to develop further, or you’ve simply been waiting for the right opportunity to pursue an interest, we’d love to hear from you.
