  • Band D
  • Hybrid Working – with some requirement to travel to the Insurance Support Office (location tbc) and Pets at Home Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire, as required
  • Attendance at other national meetings, as required

About the Role

The Platform Manager will act as the techinal product owner for and overall system owner for the technology platforms specific for the insurance line of business (Salesforce FSC), playing a pivotal role in shaping the scope and requirements for that platform.

This role is responsible for driving the roadmap of insurance platforms development, definition of capabilities, ensuring clear articulation of business needs and translating them into actionable technical requirements.

Working closely with stakeholders across business, technology, and delivery teams, the Platform Manager will ensure that the technology direction aligns with the overall insurance proposition, leading the scope definition and prioritisation process, supporting technology discovery and planning phases, and ensuring that all functional and non-functional requirements are well-documented, ready, and aligned for successful delivery.

The role is not a digital product owner, but a technical product/platform manager for our new Insurance proposition and as such will need the blend of a strong technology/IT background and experience gained with ideally pet insurance or personal lines insurance. There is requirement for good working knowledge of Salesforce FSC for this role.

As Platform Manager, this role will see you operating, leading, and influencing:

  • Platform Ownership: Define and lead the platform roadmap for our pet insurance offering, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technology requirements and customer needs
  • Insurance (ideally Pet) Expertise: Leverage your deep knowledge of the pet/personal lines insurance market and Salesforce FSC to drive platform research, gather feedback and drive a roadmap of features that enable the overall pet insurance experience
  • Scope Definition & Requirement Readiness: Define and prioritise the scope of the pet insurance technology platform by gathering, refining and validating business and technical requirements. Ensure requirements are clearly documented and ready for delivery teams, supporting successful delivery planning and execution
  • Customer-Centric Design: Use insights and platform capabilities to design and refine platform features that meet the unique needs of pet owners
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, consumer, marketing and technology teams to gather and document business requirements, translating them into user stories and clear acceptance criteria
  • Agile Delivery: Support product delivery within an Agile environment, helping to prioritise the platform backlog, refining user stories and ensuring timely, high-quality feature releases
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor platform performance and gather feedback to identify areas for iteration and improvement, ensuring continuous enhancement of the platform roadmap
  • Compliance & Industry Standards: Ensure that insurance platforms comply with industry regulations and address challenges specific to the pet insurance sector
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, UX marketing and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery and successful product launches
  • Support Discovery and Planning Phases: Drive early-stage discovery activities, supporting workshops, user journey mapping and backlog development. Collaborate with architects and delivery leads to align platform capabilities with broader business goals, technical architecture, and delivery timelines

About You – what we would like you to bring to our role

We are seeking an individual with good working knowledge of Salesforce Financial Services Cloud and this is a prerequisite for the role. Ideally you will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or deep demonstrable technology experience.

Proven experience in the pet (personal lines) insurance industry, would be hugely advantageous, you bring a strong understanding of customer needs, market trends, technology capability and regulatory requirement. You will have a track record of translating customer and product requirements into actionable platform features.

With strong relationship and stakeholder management skill, you will be comfortable working with engineering teams, translating business needs into clear technical requirements that support product roadmaps. Additionally, your experience working in Agile methodologies, Saas implementation and backlog and user stories, will support your capability to manage a platform backlog, collaborate with teams, and deliver enhancements iteratively.

You will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, with a flexible approach to change and a strong initiative to drive projects forward. Your expertise and communication skills will foster alignment and collaboration across multiple teams.
