Are you a commercially minded finance professional with a passion for retail? Join Pets at Home as a Commercial Finance Analyst and play a key role in supporting our Buying and Merchandising teams. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract as maternity cover with hybrid working (two office days per week) from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join on a 12-month fixed term contract as maternity cover. In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the heart of sales and margin analysis, providing actionable insights that drive performance and decision-making. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, owning reporting models and delivering deep-dive analysis on trading performance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering weekly trading reports with clear performance insights and action plans
  • Building and maintaining commercial models to support forecasting and decision-making
  • Partnering with Buyers and Merchandisers to influence strategy
  • Supporting month-end reporting, budgeting and audit queries
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis on new ranges and underperforming areas

What we’re looking for:

  • Part or fully qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent)
  • Analytical mindset with experience of reviewing sales and margin performance
  • Detail-oriented, inquisitive and adaptable
  • A great communicator, adept at building and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Experience in retail commercial finance is a plus
