Join Pets at Home, the UK’s leading pet care business, as a Lead Services Developer! We’re looking for a passionate tech leader to shape our digital pet care ecosystem, designing scalable solutions that impact millions of pets and their owners.
As our Lead Services Developer, you’ll provide technical leadership, hands-on development expertise and strategic direction across our services platform. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, high-performance software that makes a real difference to pets and their owners. The role offers hybrid working from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect and develop scalable backend systems using C#/.NET, CosmosDB and Azure to power our e-commerce platform
- Champion best practices through code reviews, mentoring and documentation
- Lead the technical direction and standards across backend development
- Shape the technology roadmap and promote modern dev practices (CI/CD, TDD, SpecFlow)
- Collaborate with stakeholders across IT and the wider business to deliver value-driven outcomes
What You’ll Bring:
- Extensive experience with .NET Core, C#, Azure and service-oriented architecture
- Proven expertise in the software lifecycle within an Agile environment
- Hands-on experience with Azure CosmosDB or similar No-SQL databases
- Experience leading software development teams and delivering enterprise solutions
- Proficiency in querying cross-product system logs to root-cause issues
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools (e.g., Jira)
- Knowledge of Gherkin/SpecFlow or other automation testing frameworks
- E-commerce experience is a plus
- A proactive, collaborative mindset with exceptional communication and mentoring skills
- A passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement
