What I Need From You
I am a thirteen year old boy who lives at home with my parents and two older siblings. My mum is my main carer and my dad works as a lorry driver with long hours. This means my mum needs help caring for me overnight so she can rest. I am registered blind, so patience and clear communication are important so I know what you are doing when you approach me.
What You Will Do / Responsibilities
- Provide overnight care to ensure I am warm, comfortable and safe while my mum sleeps upstairs.
- Monitor my temperature and manage the heated blanket (turn on/off as needed).
- Support my diabetes care needs; check my phone to ensure sugars don’t go too high or too low while I sleep (I have a sensor and pump).
- Assist with changing pads and turning as required throughout the night.
- Spend the night with me, offering a cup of tea and a few moments of light activity (e.g., watching TV) as appropriate while monitoring and supporting me as needed.
Ideal candidates may have prior experience; training will be provided. The right candidate should be caring, compassionate and friendly above all else.
Hours Post includes waking night shifts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10pm to 7am (9 hours). Set days will be allocated, with some flexibility to cover annual leave or sickness.
