Petrolab is a successful and growing geomaterials analysis consultancy providing support services to the mining, minerals processing and construction industries worldwide from its base in Redruth, Cornwall, UK. We provide dependable and accessible interpretative reporting to our clients helping them evaluate the potential of their mineral resources and solve materials related problems.
We are looking to recruit up to two part-time/full time Laboratory Assistants to support the technical team in providing petrological and mineralogical consultancy projects to clients in the minerals, mining and structural materials industries. Tasks will include routine handling and recording of incoming/outgoing samples, preparing samples for testing, use of sample preparation equipment (e.g. for weighing, sieving, cutting, crushing, grinding and polishing), sample storage custody and laboratory administration.
Some tasks require manual handling of heavy samples, whereas others require dexterity and extreme diligence (section preparation). You will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for this type of work. Ideally you will have some previous related work experience but no geological qualifications are necessary. You must have the right to permanently work in the UK.
This role is based in Redruth, Cornwall. You will be required to work 5 days per week with a minimum of 25 hours, though more hours may be available up to full time (37.5 hours per week).
