JOB TITLE: Tax Manager
This is a 3 Month Fixed Term Contract to cover a recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with both internal and external Group tax reporting processes, managing the ETR and cash tax position.
- Responsible for managing the Country by Country Reporting and Pillar 2 reporting processes. Managing the automation of both of these processes.
- Reviewing UK and overseas VAT compliance, and corporation tax compliance in the UK, Jersey and Netherlands.
- Responsible for the CCO monitoring and review process.
- Involvement in other ad hoc tax risk management projects such as tax strategy, tax governance and Senior Accounting Officer responsibilities.
- Involvement in ad hoc tax advisory projects.
- The role is within Petrofac’s Group Tax team. The responsibilities are as follows:
- Reviewing and assisting in delivering the Group’s tax reporting, including overseeing, challenging and guiding Finance teams within the Divisions, and liaising with external auditors.
- Coordinating the automation of the Group tax reporting process
- Analysing and consolidating tax positions, analysing the effective tax rate for bi-annual external and quarterly internal management reporting.
- Responsible for coordinating the Country-by-Country Reporting and BEPS Pillar 2 obligations, including:
- supporting the divisions with the Pillar 2 reporting obligations,
- monitoring legislative developments,
- drive the adaptation of systems and processes to address new requirements
- review the draft Pillar 2 return prior to submission
- responsible for ensuring timely filings of CBCR notifications
- Review the UK and overseas VAT returns prior to filing with the relevant tax authorities
- Provide VAT technical advice to the Business Units (UK and overseas)
- Reviewing UK and overseas corporate tax returns and statutory accounts disclosures, where appropriate.
- Monitoring the Senior Accounting Officer process and working with the Business Unit to deliver a timely submission.
- Responsible for the review of corporate tax compliance in Jersey and The Netherlands.
- Liaising with HMRC on specific enquiries for relevant statutory entities, including involvement in Business Risk Review meetings.
- Support the Employment and Expatriate Senior tax manager with the following:
- Review the PAYE settlement agreement and P11D forms prior to submission
- Support the business units on income tax and social security costings for bids in existing Petrofac locations and new countries.
- Monitoring short-term business visitor reporting across global regions where Petrofac operates
- Supporting technical analysis and computations in relation to specific functional areas, including R&D, Corporate interest restriction, Substantial Shareholding Exemption, Controlled Foreign Companies, Transfer pricing and other legislation involving numerical analysis/modelling.
- Providing ad hoc advisory to the business on various tax matters as required
- Involvement in tax structuring projects, as guided by the Tax Director
- Involvement with internal audits, as required
Essential Qualifications And Skills
- Analysing and interpreting changes in corporation tax legislation in the UK and overseas territories to ensure compliance with the law.
- Reviewing potential tax planning opportunities to mitigate cash taxes, optimise the group’s ETR, mitigate tax risks or reduce the administrative burden in all areas of taxation. The role includes the responsibility to continuously identify and propose improvements to tax reporting and compliance processes
- ATT/CTA/ACA/ICAS qualified
- Possessing at least of post-qualification experience, with a preference for individuals with relevant experience in oil and gas or oilfield services tax.
- A self-motivated individual who can proactively initiate and lead projects to completion, collaborating with team members to deliver results.
- Experience automating tax reporting systems
- Proficiency in conducting tax analysis and preparing tax workings across various UK tax technical areas, demonstrating the ability to meet deadlines and drive process improvements.
- Effective communication skills to interact with personnel at all levels of the organisation, spanning across the Divisions and up to CFO level.
- Strong written communication skills capable of simplifying complex tax concepts for clear understanding.
- Demonstrates the Petrofac Values.
- Willingness to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities.
- Strong tax reporting and tax accounting experience, including working knowledge of financial accounting systems (preferably Oracle TRCS).
- Practical experience and good understanding of UK and international tax legislation.
- Strong communication skills are essential due to frequent interactions with colleagues globally
- Preferred but not essential, VAT and employment/expatriate tax experience
