Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax compliance and providing advice and support to Asset Solutions legal entities in Europe and Africa, relating to VAT and employment taxes.
  • Preparation of the UK group VAT return.
  • Manage input, output and control VAT accounts.
  • Monthly VAT netting process.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and approve VAT treatment of new contracts.
  • Manage and work with advisors to ensure overseas tax returns are submitted.
  • Work with customs team to ensure PIVA, C79, and deferment duty are correctly accounted for.
  • Review and approve expenses which have non-recoverable VAT.
  • Review and approve CIS returns.
  • Review and approve IR35 assessments.
  • Review and approve sub-contractors to comply with Facilitation of Tax Evasion rules.
  • Approve relocation expenditure in accordance with HMRC guidance and collate for inclusion in P11D/PSA submissions.
  • Assist with employment tax queries from the business.
  • Keep the business up to date with developments in tax legislation and government initiatives.
  • Review and assess processes regarding VAT compliance and reporting, implementing improvements where possible.
  • Liaison with tax advisors as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional qualification in accounting or tax, ICAS/ACCA/CTA/ATT.
  • Good general UK tax knowledge.
  • Good working knowledge of VAT.
  • Strong organisational capabilities.
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a strong team player.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to meet deadlines through planning, organisation, and persistence.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of new processes to ensure effective and consistent controls are in place, using Oracle as a platform to improve our tax information systems.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly with Excel.
  • At least post-qualifying experience within the profession or industry (UK and international).
  • Preference for oil services corporate experience.
  • Financial reporting accounting experience.
  • Experience in preparing UK VAT returns and computations.
