JOB TITLE: DEVELOPING INSTRUMENT & CONTROL ENGINEER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specifying modifications to existing equipment or purchasing new equipment including but not limited to: ESD, DCS, F&G and Metering, Valves, Actuated Valve Packages, Relief Valves, Field Instrumentation including Pressure, Level, Temperature, Flow and Specialist Measurements, Instrument package equipment e.g. HPUs, WHCPs, etc. Safety Instrumented Systems, Industrial Networking and Communications, Other associated equipment with the Oil and Gas industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Energy Institute Guidelines for Design, Installation and Management of Small Bore Tubing Assemblies and demonstrable competence to perform small bore tubing design in accordance with these guidelines.
  • Carry out routine engineering assignments under guidance from senior and lead engineers. Apply engineering theory in design and provide support during implementation, demonstrating competence in the role.
  • Responsible for delivery as part of the project team for achieving the target and completion of engineering documentation within the budget and schedule.
  • Prepare engineering work scopes for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
  • Identify increase or reduction in scope and assist in raising the necessary support documents for project control purposes.
  • Comply with relevant codes of conduct.
  • Provide discipline engineering support to satisfy the appropriate asset safety case and ensure the PFEER performance standards are not compromised by any discipline engineering activities.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge with respect to current and new legislation and standards.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge with company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards.
  • Comply with the contract health, safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Operate and act responsibly, considering the need to progress environmental, social and economic outcomes simultaneously.
  • Be responsible for continuing professional development necessary to maintain and enhance competence in own area of practice.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Ability to conduct site surveys in a professional and technically capable manner.
  • Produce calculations required for the role, participate in design reviews, and review interdisciplinary documents where necessary.
  • Deliver engineering deliverables to meet project deadlines for assigned packages and scopes of work.
  • Hold a degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline and be working towards professional membership or Chartered Engineer status with some postgraduate experience in the respective discipline.
  • Possess significant offshore experience as an apprentice and be very familiar with instrumentation and control systems offshore.
  • Hold an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing an adequate working knowledge of the respective discipline. Some experience should be in a relevant theatre of operation.
  • Liaise with other disciplines in the execution of the work.
  • Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations.
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft packages and required software packages for the role.
  • Have effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work as a team member and communicate effectively with onshore and offshore personnel at all levels, and possess knowledge of industry best practices associated with drilling and completions.
