JOB TITLE

Deck Foreman on ALBA FSU, 2/3 rota for 10 months fixed term contract.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implementing work schedules prepared by the deck coordinator in a decisive and cost effective manner
  • The supervision and direction of the deck workforce including; helicopter transit, crane & all lifting operations to achieve the desired objective
  • Implementation and delegation of maintenance schedules on deck created by the CMMS
  • Ensuring that all aspects of safety within control are implemented and maintained i.e. adequate personal protective measures are employed and permit to work instructions followed
  • Report of all unsafe/substandard conditions
  • Leading “Tool Box” talks to maintain levels of safety awareness, particularly covering induction requirements of new personnel
  • Full working knowledge and application of the facilities Safe System of Work (Permit of Work)
  • Conduct and record Area Ownership site inspections
  • Participation in POWER initiative by completing at least one POWER observation per offshore rotation
  • Ensuring duties undertaken in safe and controlled manner relating to crane operations as follows
  • Ensuring all per-work checks carried out prior to crane operations and logs maintained
  • Ensuring that all defects are reported, logged and checks made to ensure repairs are completed satisfactory
  • The safe and proper operation within the SWL of the unit cranes in line with approved codes of practice and manufacture’s guidelines
  • Close liaison with the maintenance personnel when engineering lifts are required to maximise safety and to ensure the efficient use to manning resources
  • Ensuring duties are coordinated and undertaken in safe and controlled manner relating to HLO and HDA’s as follows
  • Advising helicopter pilots by radio of deck clearance and situations regarding crane working for their consideration prior to landing
  • Applying the conditions laid down in company procedures and is aware of the impact on aircraft movement relating to Limited Radio Silence/crane operations
  • Heli-ops company procedures
  • Safe conduct of personnel to and from helideck
  • Operations and maintenance of helideck firefighting monitor’s emergency crash box
  • Monitor the condition of the firefighting suits and helideck netting and ensure the tension is to HSE requirements
  • Monitor helideck lighting and overall condition of the deck
  • Conferring with Deck Coordinator in the event of conflict of interest due to weather etc re-personnel movement/airfreight uplift
  • Overseeing passengers correctly dressing for helicopter transport and baggage equipment/material is loaded correctly
  • Direct supervision of helideck crew, ensuring they are competent in all helideck procedures e.g. firefighting, medivac, casivac procedures and give help and direction of Transit Clerk duties
  • Assisting the supervisor during emergency exercises concerning helicopter evacuation or act as directed by the OIM
  • Ensuring duties undertaken in safe and controlled manner relating to the responsible Competent Person Lifting (CPL) in overall charge of lifting operations on the installation or worksite
  • Produce and assess lifting plans
  • Produce lifting Operation Certificates
  • Carry out relevant risk assessment
  • Conduct toolbox talks
  • If required supervise the lifting operations
  • Rigger loft operated and controlled in accordance with company procedures
  • Lifting equipment examiner
  • Compilation and maintenance of comprehensive and accurate logs
  • Delivery of effective handovers at shift change
  • Accurate and complete handovers at the completion of the offshore rotation.
  • Full working knowledge of the facilities Safe System of Work (Permit to Work)
  • Computer literacy, maintaining good verbal and written communication with team and supervision
  • Training of others to carry out duties and routines
  • Supervision through stages of competence (Rigger and Lifting, Banksman Slinger, Crane Operations) to a level where personnel can be assessed as competent by a third party assessment process
  • In the event of installation emergencies will be required to fulfil an emergency role with one of the Installation Emergency Response Teams (Fire Team Member/Leader, Helideck Crew, and Coxswain)

Health & Safety

  • Complies with all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements
  • Actively participate in constituency safety meetings, group meetings, risk assessments, toolbox talks etc
  • Is an active member of the emergency response team (ERT) and maintain a fitness level to achieve Ithaca’s ERT standard

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an offshore environment and be trained and assessed in accordance with recognized industry standards such as NSL-EAL, Opito, ECITB or equivalent
  • Ability to carry out level 2 risk assessments, prepare Lifting Operations Certificates with ISSOW, produce/assess lifting plans and conduct toolbox talks
  • Carry out audits on the lifting plans and Lifting Operations Certificates contained ISSOW
  • Opito Stage 3, NSL EAL level 2 in Banksman/Slinger or equivalent
  • and/or Opito Stage 3, NSL-EAL level 2, SVQ/NVQ in Rigging & Lifting or equivalent
  • OPITO certified Helicopter Landing Officer

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrates knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and apply it in the workplace
  • Previous experience in use of SAP or similar CMMS preferred
