This post is based offshore on a 2/3 rotation and a fixed-term contract for 18 months.

JOB TITLE: BARGE OPERATOR

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for daily marine operations as directed by the Barge Supervisor.
  • This position reports directly to the Barge Supervisor.
  • Have sufficient understanding of process safety and major accident hazard management to contribute effectively to business decisions impacting safety.
  • Commitment to incident-free operations.
  • Support a working environment based on respect for health, safety, and environmental issues, maintaining high asset integrity.
  • Participate as a member of the Barge Master’s team in achieving performance targets.
  • Build effective relationships with other departments and shifts.
  • Handle loading, storage, and discharging of oil cargo.
  • Manage ballasting, trim, and vessel stability.
  • Moor and unmoor shuttle tankers as designated by the Barge Master.
  • Manage vessel systems power.
  • Maintain vessel position and heading, making adjustments as required.
  • Maintain an effective marine and aviation radio watch.
  • Coordinate in-field operations involving shuttle tankers, support vessels, and helicopters.
  • Assist with inspection and maintenance of life-saving appliances and firefighting equipment.
  • Execute duties as specified in station/bill/emergency procedures or as directed by the OIM.
  • Conduct first-line maintenance on marine systems or assist as appropriate.
  • Ensure CCR is constantly manned.
  • Monitor vessel status, react to system changes, and request assistance as needed.
  • Isolate and prepare equipment for maintenance.
  • Complete verification and routine activities, maintaining accurate records.
  • Liaise with all departments to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of marine operations, vessel, and aircraft movements.
  • Comply with company procedures and ensure comprehensive handovers.
  • Participate in the Competence Assurance System and undertake necessary training and assessments.
  • Make decisions within delegation of authority.
  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare of crew and environmental areas related to the role.
  • Primary role of watchkeeping in the CCR, ensuring safe and efficient operation of station keeping and marine systems.
  • Perform as Area Operator within the permit to work system.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum years of experience (specify years)
  • Experience with dynamic positioning preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present technical issues clearly
  • Ability to foster positive relations with peers and stakeholders internally and externally
