About the role

As Supported Internship Lead, you will lead, develop and deliver a high-quality programme that supports learners with SEND to build skills, confidence and independence, progressing into sustained employment. You will work closely with:

  • Learners, supporting their academic, personal and professional development
  • Job Coaches, providing leadership and direction
  • Employers, building strong partnerships and securing meaningful work placements
  • College teams, contributing to quality, compliance and continuous improvement

This is a varied and rewarding role where learner success sits at the heart of everything you do.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Supported Internship programme across classroom and workplace learning
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching with a strong employability focus
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional employers
  • Secure high-quality, meaningful placements aligned to learners’ EHCP outcomes and career aspirations
  • Oversee and support a team of Job Coaches
  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, retention and achievement
  • Support learners’ progression into paid employment
  • Act as a champion for inclusive recruitment and supported employment
  • Manage Access to Work funding associated with the programme
  • Contribute to quality processes, CPD and wider college initiatives

About you

You will:

  • Be an experienced educator with a strong commitment to inclusive learning
  • Hold a relevant degree (or equivalent) and a teaching qualification, or be willing to work towards one
  • Have experience of planning, delivering and assessing learning programmes
  • Have an understanding of working with learners with SEND and safeguarding responsibilities
  • Be confident building positive relationships with learners, colleagues and employers
  • Be organised, proactive and motivated by learner outcomes
  • Share the college values of respect, community and empowerment
  • Experience of supported internships, employability programmes or employer engagement is desirable but not essential.
