- Job Summary
The CDL-A Dump Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating company dump trucks to transport dirt, gravel, rock, fill material, construction debris, and other materials as needed.
The driver will provide hauling services for Petro Towery projects as well as outside companies and customers when needed.
This position requires the safe and professional operation of company equipment, compliance with all applicable DOT regulations and company policies, completion of required vehicle inspections and documentation, and dependable transportation of materials to and from job sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate company dump trucks on public roadways, construction sites, quarries, gravel lots, and other work locations.
- Haul dirt, gravel, rock, fill material, construction debris, and other approved materials.
- Transport materials for Petro Towery projects and for outside companies or customers as assigned.
- Pick up and deliver loads to designated locations safely and efficiently.
- Properly position the truck for loading and unloading/dumping operations.
- Safely operate the dump bed, tailgate, and associated truck controls.
- Ensure loads are properly distributed and transported safely.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Complete daily DOT inspection forms and other required documentation.
- Check tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and other basic vehicle conditions.
- Immediately report vehicle defects, damage, maintenance needs, accidents, or safety concerns to management.
- Maintain the assigned truck in a clean, safe, and professional condition.
- Follow all applicable DOT regulations, traffic laws, company policies, and job-site safety requirements.
- Communicate professionally with management, Petro Towery employees, customers, contractors, quarry personnel, and job-site representatives.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, tickets, deliveries, mileage, and other required information.
- Obtain and submit load tickets, receipts, or other documentation as required.
- Follow designated routes and job instructions while adjusting appropriately for traffic, weather, road, and job-site conditions.
- Exercise caution when backing, dumping, entering job sites, and operating around employees, customers, equipment, and the public.
- Assist with other reasonable driving, hauling, or fleet-related duties as assigned.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Must meet all applicable DOT driver qualification requirements.
- Must have an acceptable driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to pass required drug and alcohol testing.
- Must be able to pass a company background check and motor vehicle record check.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous dump truck, construction hauling, or commercial driving experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe commercial vehicle operation.
- Ability to safely operate a dump truck in construction and industrial environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily assignments.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and outside companies.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to adapt to changing job locations, routes, schedules, and work assignments.
