The IT Support Engineer is responsible for supporting a manufacturing site of about 80 employees for all things IT. This is a 12 month contract with occasional travel to other company offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems and across a range of software applications (SAP, Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Android, iOS).
- Take ownership of issues by carrying out problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to the customer as soon as possible; escalating incidents to other support teams where necessary.
- Interact and work alongside 1st Line Service Desk as required.
- Accurately record, update and document requests using the IT service desk system.
- Install and configure new IT equipment.
- Resolve incidents and upgrade different types of software and hardware.
- Resolve incidents with printers, copiers and scanners.
- Maintain a first-class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in the organization.
- Create, maintain and publish relevant support documentation to assist all staff in the quick resolution of their incidents and service requests and enable users to become more self-sufficient.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a deskside support specialist within a manufacturing environment (3 - 5 years).
- Experience with MRP systems (ideally SAP) (3 - 5 years).
- Experience with all End User Microsoft products.
- End user support and soft skills - in person and over phone.
- Network troubleshooting skills - ping, traceroute, etc.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in relevant subject.
- Good knowledge around IT infrastructure and networks.
- Experience walking end users through troubleshooting steps over phone (3 - 5 years).
