Established for over 40 years, Denholm KSW Ltd is a leading sub‑contract machining & clad welding facility supplying critical and complex components (predominantly) to the global energy sector. With the help of more than 50 highly skilled employees working at our location in Glenrothes, the company has a prestigious customer base that has a high demand for the services we provide. We are looking for various CNC Operators. The successful candidates must be experienced and capable of working on their own initiative on large and complex parts.
As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC machinery to manufacture high‑precision components for demanding engineering applications. Working within a specialist machining environment, you will contribute to the production of quality components while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, safety, and workmanship. Operators are expected to continuously develop their technical capabilities, with progression opportunities available through the competency levels.
Key Responsibilities- Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently.
- Produce components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct in‑process inspections and quality checks.
- Ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organised working area.
- Report machining issues, equipment faults, and non‑conformances.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Follow company procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Level 2 CNC Operator: Able to independently complete standard machining operations. Capable of running more complex components with support from Engineering. Competent in machine setup and operation across designated equipment. Actively developing technical skills towards Level 1 competency.
- Level 3 CNC Operator: Operates CNC machines under supervision. Learns machine setup, tooling, and production processes. Supports production activities while developing machining knowledge and experience. Demonstrates a commitment to training and progression within the role.
Any experience with the following would be highly preferable:
- CNC Lathe / Turning Operator (Horizontal Lathe)
- Vertical Lathe Operator (VTL)
- Horizontal Borer Operator
- CNC Machining Centre Operator
These are full time positions working various shift patterns of 39 hours (Monday to Friday).
- Day shift - 07:00 to 17:15 Mon-Thu (4 day week)
- Night Shift - 20:30 to 07:00 Mon-Thu with 6 am finish on Friday
- Essential: Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Commitment to quality and attention to detail. Willingness to learn and develop technical skills. Ability to follow engineering drawings and instructions. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Commitment to safe working practices.
- Desirable: Previous CNC machining experience. Experience working within a precision engineering environment. Understanding of engineering drawings and measurement equipment. Knowledge of CNC controls and programming.
