Petit Forestier, the European leader in refrigerated rental, are recruiting for an excellent Depot Manager to join our Bicester Depot.

What will you be doing?

You will control the business in a manner that ensures the commercial and net profit objectives of the business are met and to have a positive input into the development of the business.

To assume overall accountability for achieving depot & company targets whilst adhering to company procedures and strategy.

Maximise sales and profitability through excellent customer service and account management.

Provide a safe working environment and the provision of a well maintained vehicle fleet.

Proactively arranging face-to-face business development meetings with bronze-tier customers to identify growth opportunities and strengthen relationships.

Maintaining full site oversight, including identifying and addressing team training needs, to ensure performance targets are consistently met and exceeded.

Principle Accountabilities

  • To ensure the attainment of the depots financial and fleet targets.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and ensure legislative compliance.
  • To generate and maximise profit in line with company expectation.
  • To effectively manage staff through appraisals, target setting and absence management.
  • Achievement of targets set in relation to the Customer Visit Program.
  • Adherence to Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Effective management and reduction of existing debt.
  • To minimise credit note generation by eradicating local operational errors.
  • To review rates and implement rate increases.
  • To review, manage and account for all depot generated purchase invoices
  • To ensure the complete and accurate use of the Fleet Management CRM database
  • To manage all aspects of the depot fleet, including breakdowns
  • To account for the cost effectiveness of the depot workshop
  • To effectively manage the depot maintenance budget
  • To maximise and expedite all depot recharges
  • Ensure adherence to the Petit Forestier Fundamentals

  • Achievement of revenue and budgetary targets.
  • Branch KPI’s
  • Vehicle inspections and servicing compliance to agreed company and customer standards.
  • Internal Audit results.

Key Technical Skills

  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft 365 Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Extensive management experience with record of target setting and performance review.
  • Commercial and financial awareness and team management experience.
  • Excellent negotiating and sales skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator, coupled with problem solving skills.
  • Current UK Driving Licence.
  • Has effective presentation and listening skills coupled with a consultative style to ensure team commitment.
  • Is able to work and manage through others by setting clear targets, objectively measuring performance and quality, providing regular feedback and coaching as required.
  • Is flexible and is able to embrace and cope with change and accepts accountability.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities that can lead to improved financial performance or a stronger relationship with customers.
  • Can assess the commercial implications of plans, actions and issues arising on the operation and the customer. Is able to present solutions not problems.
  • Can balance forward and day-to-day thinking and can assess the commercial implications of plans and action taken.

  • Can understand operating budgets as well as the relationship of KPI’s to the financial management / performance of the business.

  • Knowledge of Transportation and Logistics industry.
  • Strong PC literacy.
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance.
  • A level or degree educated
  • Experience of goods vehicle operation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of drivers time / working time directive
