This is more than an operational leadership role. It’s an opportunity to lead people, drive performance, and shape the future growth of the business. We’re looking for a strong and commercially focused Business Manager to take accountability for site leadership, operational performance, safety, profitability, and growth across assigned sites. Working closely with the MD, you will be a key leader within the business. You will create a positive working culture, deliver operational excellence, and build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.

What you’ll actually be doing:

  • Leading and promoting a positive safety culture across operations
  • Managing operational performance to ensure excellent customer delivery against KPIs and service agreements
  • Supporting long-term operational and commercial decision-making alongside the Managing Director
  • Preparing and managing budgets, profit & loss, and regional financial performance
  • Developing local business strategies and identifying growth opportunities
  • Leading and contributing to tender opportunities and commercial submissions
  • Managing and developing teams to ensure competence, performance, and engagement
  • Building strong customer relationships through regular engagement and performance reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures, HSE standards, and legislative requirements
  • Carrying out site visits, safety inspections, and operational reviews
  • Monitoring KPIs and performance data to drive operational improvement

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience within a similar operational leadership role, ideally within logistics, warehousing, transport, or quayside operations
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage challenging situations effectively
  • Commercial and contractual awareness with experience managing budgets and operational performance
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Resilient, decisive, and confident in addressing people and performance matters
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organisational skills
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification preferred
