We are seeking a professionally qualified and experienced Assistant Manager to join our highly experienced specialist VAT team in Cambridge. This is a key role within a well-established team, where you will support senior leaders in delivering high-quality technical advice, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to the firm's strategic and commercial objectives. You will play a central part in maintaining the team's performance and helping the wider firm achieve its aims.
You will identify planning and marketing opportunities for both existing and prospective clients, support the delivery of complex technical assignments, and contribute to new client proposals. You will also uphold the firm's quality assurance standards while delivering an excellent level of client care, collaborating with colleagues to share knowledge and proactively resolve issues.
We are looking for someone who is ATT qualified (or equivalent), with strong VAT experience gained within professional services or a similar environment. You will have excellent technical knowledge, the ability to communicate complex matters clearly, and a strong sense of commercial awareness with an interest in business development. With a large majority of your time focusing on providing bespoke advisory projects, identifying new business opportunities, and mentoring and supporting junior members of the team. You will assist in delivering strategic personal tax advice as well as supporting Partners and directors with business development and meeting the teams 2030 strategy.
Candidates must possess a CTA qualification, although other recognised accounting qualifications, such as STEP, ACA, or ACCA, will also be considered, provided they have proven post qualification experience in personal tax advice. They must have strong technical expertise in personal tax advisory, effective project management and team development skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and an ability to build strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate commercial awareness to identify business growth opportunities and a commitment to continuous learning to stay up to date with legislative changes.
