As a Senior Support Worker, you will play an important role in leading the team, supporting the day-to‑day running of the service and helping the people we support achieve greater independence and live the life they choose.
You'll have the opportunity to build on your existing experience, develop your leadership skills and take on increased responsibility, with ongoing training and career development available.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the staff team during shifts, ensuring the service runs safely and effectively.
- Promote person-centred support, dignity, choice and independence.
- Lead by example and create a positive, supportive team environment.
- Support colleagues with guidance, induction, training and development.
- Work closely with management, families, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
- Manage safeguarding concerns, risks, incidents, medication and daily service requirements appropriately.
- Ensure support plans, risk assessments and records are maintained to a high standard.
- Support audits, quality monitoring and compliance across the service.
- Apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and make appropriate decisions in the absence of management.
- Identify training and development needs and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the service.
Essential
- Experience within health and social care, supported living or a similar environment.
- Previous experience in a senior, supervisory or experienced support worker role.
- Strong understanding of person-centred support and safeguarding.
- Good communication, organisation and leadership skills.
- A genuine commitment to supporting adults with learning disabilities to achieve greater independence.
- Motivation to develop your career and take on additional responsibility.
Desirable
- Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent.
- Previous Senior Support Worker or Team Leader experience.
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and medication management.
- Experience supporting staff development, audits and care documentation.
