We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a well-established children's residential service supporting young people with autism, complex needs, and challenging behaviour. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people can develop emotionally, socially, and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a role model
- Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support
- Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations appropriately
- Work as a Key Worker, completing case notes, reports, and care planning
- Support education, social development, and recreational activities
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all young people
Senior / Leadership Duties
- Lead shifts when required and cover in the absence of senior staff
- Support, mentor, and guide junior staff members
- Contribute to staff meetings, supervision, and training
- Assist with rota planning and team coordination
Care Planning & Administration
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of young people's progress
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and care reviews
- Complete social and emotional reports when required
General Responsibilities
- Transport young people to school, appointments, and activities (driving required)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment
- Participate in sleep-in shifts (flexibility available)
- Undertake additional reasonable duties as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in working with children or young people with complex needs or challenging behaviour
- Knowledgeable in trauma-informed care and child development
- Calm, resilient, and confident in managing difficult situations
- A strong communicator and team player
- Naturally supportive with leadership potential
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Right to work full-time in the UK (no restrictions)
Desirable:
- Level 3/4 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Previous experience in a senior or shift-leading role
