We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker (Senior Mentor) to join a well-established children's residential service supporting young people with autism, complex needs, and challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a genuine difference, while also taking on a leadership presence within the home. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people can develop emotionally, socially, and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a role model
  • Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support
  • Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations appropriately
  • Work as a Key Worker, completing case notes, reports, and care planning
  • Support education, social development, and recreational activities
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all young people

Senior / Leadership Duties

  • Lead shifts when required and cover in the absence of senior staff
  • Support, mentor, and guide junior staff members
  • Contribute to staff meetings, supervision, and training
  • Assist with rota planning and team coordination

Care Planning & Administration

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of young people's progress
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and care reviews
  • Complete social and emotional reports when required

General Responsibilities

  • Transport young people to school, appointments, and activities (driving required)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment
  • Participate in sleep-in shifts (flexibility available)
  • Undertake additional reasonable duties as required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in working with children or young people with complex needs or challenging behaviour
  • Knowledgeable in trauma-informed care and child development
  • Calm, resilient, and confident in managing difficult situations
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Naturally supportive with leadership potential

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Right to work full-time in the UK (no restrictions)

Desirable:

  • Level 3/4 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a senior or shift-leading role
