The Role
An exciting part-time opportunity within the Peterborough United FC academy medical department for a hard-working individual who is passionate about starting or continuing a career in elite football. The role involves working within a well-respected Category 2 academy, alongside the Academy Physiotherapist and other part-time therapists to provide excellent evidence-based care to the young footballers in the academy. This is an ideal role for a qualified sports therapist or physiotherapist looking to gain experience in a young elite footballing environment. The successful applicant will also receive CPD as part of the departmental programme.
Duties
- Provide pitch site trauma cover for schoolboys' training and fixtures.
- Record accurate and comprehensive clinical notes in a timely manner.
- Assessment of player injuries and rehab programmes.
Other Responsibilities
- Be available to travel to other sites (if required).
- Be aware of PUFC policies, procedures & best practice so that concerns of non-compliance can be raised at all times (e.g., Safeguarding, EDI and Health and Safety).
- Attend meetings, training and professional updating as required.
- Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new and alternative systems.
- Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
- Uphold the values of Peterborough United Football Club (PUFC) and promote respectful, inclusive conduct in line with equality and safeguarding commitments.
- Act as an ambassador/role model for PUFC and promote the club's commitment to equality and safeguarding.
- Ensure PUFC provides a level playing field for all its fans, players and guests.
- Promote an inclusive environment for colleagues, supporters and visitors, with a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, harassment and victimisation.
- Promote EFL and FA regulations and ensure compliance with these.
- Report any concerns to a senior colleague regarding equality, health and safety and safeguarding promptly.
Qualifications About You
- BSc Physiotherapy/Sport Therapy
- HCPC/SST Membership
- Pitchside trauma certificate (e.g., ITMMiF) or willingness to undertake ITMMiF prior to work commencing
Skills & Experience
- An understanding of the demands of a professional sport environment
- Experience of working pitch side in sport, preferably football (desirable)
- Experience of using PMA or KitmanLabs system (desirable)
- Full driving licence
- Flexibility around working hours
- Computer literacy
