This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a passion for sport, physical education and child development, to make a lasting impact on pupils’ health, wellbeing and achievement.

As part of our diverse, inclusive school community, you will lead high‑quality PE Lessons, across the primary age range, promote participation in sport and physical activity and help pupils develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and a lifelong love of being active.

St James CE Primary School is a relationship‑led, two form entry primary school in the heart of Northampton. Part of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET), we have a strong Christian ethos where inclusion and wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. We embrace all faiths, respect our similarities and differences and actively participate in the wider community. Through our work with God and each other we build bright futures, enabling all children and adults to reach their full potential in mind, body and spirit. We hope through this appointment, we can strengthen our provision and help our pupils flourish.

We are looking for:

  • An excellent sports teacher with experience of planning and teaching PE to a wide range of ages (age 3 - 11) and who has high expectations of children’s learning and can motivate children to achieve their potential;
  • An experienced coach, with a minimum of at least one L2 coaching qualification and other qualifications across a range of sports;
  • An organised and dedicated co‑ordinator who can plan and manage the wider sporting experience, teams and participation in inter and intra school sport across the school;
  • Someone who supports the Christian ethos and inclusive nature of St James and who works to embed these values with children, staff, governors, parents and the wider community;
  • Someone who is reflective and continually seeks to improve their practice;
  • A person who has excellent team skills who can inspire colleagues and children alike;
  • A sports teacher who understands our children and our community and who is able to build supportive relationships with parents;
  • An energetic individual who smiles often, challenges positively and drives change for the benefit of all.

We can offer you:

  • A friendly, supportive staff and welcoming, lively children;
  • A Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team who will encourage and support you to achieve your potential;
  • Appropriate CPD and PPA to develop your skills and ensure you are successful;

Visits to meet the team at St James and see the school are strongly encouraged before application. Please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
