We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team and play a key role in supporting pupils and their families to thrive both at school and at home.At Pytchley school, we are committed to quality in all areas of school life. This role presents a unique opportunity to help address the needs of our children and their families, to help overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with children, families, school staff and external agencies to provide guidance, support and early intervention where needed.

  • Is able to work collaboratively with various members of the school community, including agencies, school staff, child and parents, to be a pivotal supportive link to help overcome barriers to learning
  • Understands the importance of Child Protection and is committed to the safeguarding of children's welfare- both at home and in school.
  • Is able to promote an effective relationship between home and school life, for both children and parents.
  • Has knowledge and awareness of opportunities and resources to support children and families in need.
  • Is able to maintain effective and efficient lines of communication between various groups and organisations throughout the community, to ensure essential support is available for families
  • Has an understanding of procedures and systems involved in the role, including Social Services, Child Protection, Education Welfare Service policies and Reporting standards.
  • Maintains an approachable, controlled and focused manner throughout their work, to relay both a positive and optimistic attitude to support those in challenging situations. Oftentimes the role may involve the ability to deal with a wide-ranging audience on challenging issues
  • Has previous experience of working with children and their families
  • Ability to work effectively, flexibly and independently, with willingness to show initiative and strong interpersonal skills
