We are looking for a committed and caring Passenger Transport Driver to help deliver a safe and reliable service for pupils across our local routes. This is a rewarding role where you will play an important part in making sure children and young people feel safe, comfortable, and supported on their journey to and from school. You will work independently, and where required alongside a Passenger Assistant, helping to create a positive and respectful environment that reflects the values of the Council.
Day to day, you will carry out vehicle checks to ensure everything is safe, clean, and ready for use, reporting any issues promptly. You will ensure all passengers are seated safely and securely and support those with a range of additional needs. This includes being able to recognise and respond appropriately to any physical, mental, or health needs of the children and young people you are supporting. You will also be responsible for following all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including PSV licensing requirements and drivers' hours rules.
We are looking for someone who is a confident and responsible driver, with a valid, unrestricted D1 licence. You will have a friendly, calm approach and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, schools, and passengers. A strong sense of customer care is essential, along with the ability to remain professional and composed, even in challenging situations. This role would suit someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, and who takes pride in delivering a high standard of service. A flexible approach and a genuine interest in supporting others are key.
