Empower learners with SEND to thrive, achieve their goals, and build a successful future through personalised support and guidance.
In this busy and exciting role, you will play a vital part in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities throughout their journey at college. From pre-entry and transition through to progression beyond education, you will coordinate tailored support that enables students to reach their full potential and achieve their individual outcomes.
Working closely with students, families, curriculum teams and external agencies, you will oversee a designated caseload of learners, ensuring that Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are implemented effectively and statutory processes are delivered to a high standard. You will be a key advocate for students, helping to remove barriers to learning and promoting independence, confidence and success.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference every day, building positive relationships and ensuring students receive the specialist support they need to flourish both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a designated caseload of SEND students and coordinate their support provision
- Contribute to EHCP consultations, requests and annual reviews, ensuring statutory deadlines are met
- Maintain accurate records and administration relating to EHCP processes
- Assess support needs and Exam Access Arrangement referrals, recommending reasonable adjustments
- Coordinate transition arrangements for new and departing students
- Organise and lead meetings with students, parents, carers and external stakeholders
- Liaise with internal and external support services, making appropriate referrals and signposting
- Work closely with curriculum teams to plan and review support requirements
- Develop and review support plans, risk assessments and recommendations
- Coordinate specialist support services and provide mentoring and pastoral support to learners
What we’re looking for:
You’ll have experience supporting individuals with SEND and a strong understanding of the challenges and barriers they may face in education. With excellent communication and organisational skills, you’ll be confident managing a caseload, coordinating multi‑agency support and developing effective strategies that promote independence and achievement.
Ideally, you’ll hold a Level 4 qualification in a relevant SEND discipline, a Level 3 Award in Education & Training and a Level 2 Learning Support qualification (or be willing to work towards these). Knowledge of EHCP processes, SEND legislation, exam access arrangements and person‑centred approaches will be essential to your success in this role.
