Lecturer – GCSE & Functional Skills English and Maths

Salary: £29,725 - £37,527 per annum

Hours: Up to 37 hours per week, all year round

Contract: Permanent

Contract Type: All year round

Location: Peterborough

In this busy and exciting role, you will deliver engaging GCSE and Functional Skills English and Maths provision, helping learners develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed. You will create inspiring learning experiences that support achievement, progression and positive learner outcomes, while adapting your teaching to meet a diverse range of needs and abilities.

Working as part of a collaborative and supportive English and Maths team, you will plan and deliver high-quality lessons, monitor learner progress, provide meaningful feedback and implement effective interventions that encourage success. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment whilst promoting an inclusive and aspirational learning environment.

You will also contribute to course development, quality improvement activity, learner recruitment and curriculum promotion, ensuring programmes remain responsive to learner needs and industry expectations. Through effective use of technology-enhanced learning and evidence-based practice, you will help shape an engaging and innovative learning experience for every student.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills English and Maths teaching
• Plan and prepare engaging lessons, schemes of work and learning resources
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learner needs and abilities
• Assess learner work and provide constructive, timely feedback
• Set SMART targets and monitor learner progress and achievement
• Provide tutorials, academic guidance and pastoral support to learners
• Promote high levels of attendance, retention and positive learner outcomes
• Contribute to curriculum development, course review and quality improvement activities
• Participate in learner recruitment, enrolment, open events and promotional activities
• Utilise technology-enhanced learning to support teaching, assessment and learner engagement

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated educator with strong subject knowledge in English and/or Maths and a passion for helping learners achieve their full potential. You will have experience of delivering effective teaching, learning and assessment, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to inspire, motivate and support learners from a variety of backgrounds.
