Are you a Bricklayer looking for a new challenge away from site pressures, long commutes or unpredictable workloads? Peterborough College is looking for a practical, motivated and supportive individual to join our Modern Construction team as a Bricklaying Trainer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from industry who enjoys sharing their skills, supporting others and helping learners develop into work-ready tradespeople. You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply — if you have strong industry experience and the right attitude, we will support you with training and professional development.
The Bricklaying Trainer will be working full time (37 hours per week) on a permanent contract.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Bricklaying Trainer will play a key role in supporting learners within our Construction workshops, helping them develop practical skills, safe working practices and confidence in their trade. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting practical workshop sessions alongside teaching staff
- Demonstrating bricklaying techniques, tools and safe working practices
- Supporting assessment activities and monitoring learner progress
- Maintaining tools, equipment and workshop environments
- Ensuring excellent standards of health and safety within the workshop
- Supervising learners during practical activities and assessments
- Assisting with stock control, materials and workshop organisation
- Helping create a positive, professional and industry-standard learning environment
What We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
- Have experience working within the construction or bricklaying industry
- Enjoy supporting or mentoring others
- Take pride in high standards and safe working practices
- Can communicate confidently with young people and adults
A Level 2 qualification in a relevant trade area is essential, and a Level 3 qualification would be advantageous. Teaching or assessor qualifications are welcome but not essential — support will be provided to gain these if required.
