Your Practice
As part of our close-knit litigation team, you\’ll manage a diverse and intellectually stimulating caseload that makes a real difference to people\’s lives:
- Judicial Review expertise – Handle challenging JR cases, particularly in housing, homelessness, and adult social care
- Varied civil litigation – From contract disputes to regulatory matters, you\’ll never be bored with the breadth of work
- Balanced court attendance – Approximately once monthly, giving you the best of both worlds – advocacy experience without overwhelming court commitments
- Strategic impact – Your advice shapes how the Council delivers crucial services to residents who need them most
What You\’ll Do
- Provide robust legal advice across the full spectrum of civil litigation matters
- Manage judicial review proceedings, with particular focus on housing and ASC
- Handle homelessness appeals and housing-related disputes
- Represent the Council in various courts and tribunals
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to provide practical solutions
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, and complex legal documents
- Instruct and work alongside external counsel on complex matters

What We\’re Looking For
- Qualified Solicitor with current practicing certificate, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx
- Strong civil litigation experience with proven track record of case management
- Experience in judicial review proceedings and public law matters
- Knowledge of housing law, homelessness legislation, or adult social care law (desirable)
- Excellent advocacy skills and confidence in court/tribunal settings
