Peterborough Cathedral is looking for a Visitor Experience Assistant to join our team in a varied, hands‑on role at the heart of Cathedral life. This is a flexible position supporting visitor welcome, retail, cleaning, learning, worship and events. No two days are the same, and the role plays a key part in ensuring the Cathedral is clean, welcoming, safe and well‑presented for all who visit. You will help deliver a high‑quality visitor experience while supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of a busy, historic working Cathedral.
Location: Peterborough Cathedral
Contract: Casual (flexible hours)

Key Duties
- Provide a warm, friendly welcome and visitor information
- Support the Cathedral shop (tills, cash handling, merchandising)
- Carry out cleaning and presentation of public and back‑of‑house spaces (approx. 40%)
- Assist with setup and delivery of events, services and school visits
- Help ensure spaces are ready, safe and well‑presented
- Work flexibly across teams and respond to changing needs
About You
- Friendly, reliable and confident with people
- Practical and happy with hands‑on work
- Flexible and able to work across different tasks
- Comfortable in a customer‑facing environment
Experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, cleaning, events or heritage settings is desirable.
