We have an opportunity for a Basketball Coach to join the college in the Autumn term. This is a fixed term position until March 2027 with the potential for additional casual work during the summer term.

Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth‑form college in Winchester which is proud to be rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
The role involves coaching our Basketball Team. The successful candidate will ideally be able to drive a minibus, hold a basketball coaching qualification and have previous experience of working with young adults.
The hours are Monday 9:55 – 10:50 and Thursday 15:40 – 18:00, with some flexibility required to accommodate occasional fixtures on other days.
We value staff well‑being: we offer special leave for various occasions, support from the Hub, staff‑run groups, a staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end‑of‑term meals and activities, and bike and computer loans, among other initiatives.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. A Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required for any individual offered a position. Staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
