About the Role: Peter Smythe Transport Training is seeking a professional and dedicated PCV and HGV Instructor. You will train and prepare candidates to meet DVSA standards for operating both passenger-carrying vehicles (PCV) and large goods vehicles (HGV). In this role, you will deliver high-quality instruction, assess driving skills, and support candidates to ensure their success in practical and off-road tests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training and Assessment: Deliver structured training sessions to prepare candidates for DVSA practical on-road and off-road tests for both PCV and HGV licenses. Assess driving and operational skills, providing clear and constructive feedback to improve candidate performance.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure all training vehicles (PCV and HGV) are clean, safe, and in optimal condition. Conduct pre-use inspections and promptly report any faults or issues to the site supervisor.
- Professionalism and Customer Service: Create a supportive, professional, and positive learning environment for all candidates. Address questions and concerns with clarity and patience to ensure candidates feel confident and motivated. Maintain accurate and detailed records of candidate progress, performance assessments, and feedback provided. Coordinate effectively with candidates to organise training sessions and DVSA test appointments. Promote and enforce safety standards and DVSA regulations during all training activities to protect candidates and ensure legal compliance. Stay current with DVSA regulations and best practices for both PCV and LGV instruction. Maintain a personal CPD (Continuing Professional Development) portfolio to enhance instructional skills.
Continuous Development: A valid PCV and LGV licence with relevant driving experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to safety and delivering exceptional customer service. Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules, candidate records, and reporting requirements. A professional, supportive approach and a passion for helping others succeed.
